Kirsten raced the V8 for the first time in 2008 at this meeting, the car was a bit of an unknown being an old Stutchbury car that had not raced for about 5 years.  After a more or less complete re-build by NFR and then a whole lot of finishing off by ourselves the car actually seemed to perform quite well with only some loss of brake performance through the day and a intermittent fuel pump fault occurring causing us some problems.

Kirsten got off to a reasonable, if cautious, start in her first heat and was picking up speed when the caution was thrown for a bad accident involving the 314 car of Steve Bowman, there was a lengthy delay while Steve was removed from his car and on the re-start Kirsten carried on to nearly finish the race just loosing the back end and stalling on the last bend of the race. .

Race two was over as soon as it started as it was at this point the fuel pump fault decoded to show itself but luckily Kirsten was able to coast to the safety of the infield as the green was thrown.

In heat things set off quite well again, Kirsten was again managing to keep the car pointing in the right direction and was visibly gaining confidence when the fuel pump again failed calling an end to our day.

Not a wasted day in our opinion, we have given the Swinton Car Project spare car a shake down and now what we have to address for next time when Anna Williams will probably take the controls as Kirsten should have her own dedicated car by that time again courtesy of the SCP.
